The fastest over 60 is Boz in 27:33. The fastest over 50 male is Nick Barnes in 20:44. The fastest over 50 female is Sarah Flear in 24:21. The fastest married couple is Nick & Lindsay Barnes. The fastest runner is Ollie Payne in 20:17. Robert and I have both taken part in 20 races. Brian has done 16, David only 14. Robert has the start number of ONE for the first time.

One of the committee members reached a milestone this year, so an over 60's trophy was introduced. The fastest runner is Nick Barnes in 22:01. I did not run this year.

25th October 2020 - The 21st Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 25 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times. Handicap race is won by John Newberry. Fastest runner is Nick Barnes in 22:06. I did not run this year.



27th October 2019 - The 20th Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 25 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times. The route is modified for this year only to involve going round a cone on the Greenway. Handicap race is won by Kelly Barr. Fastest runner is Freddy Newberry in 18:49 after Ben Rhodes makes a navigational error. I did not run this year.



28th October 2018 - The 19th Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 25 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times. David has a very favourable handicap and nobody is surprised when he wins. Fastest over 50 male is Carl Jennison in 23:18, fastest over 50 female is Joy Jennison in 23:54, however the fastest married couple is retained by the Harveys. Fastest runner is Sam Davis in 19:19.



29th October 2017 - The 18th Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 28 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times. James and Laura Harvey win this years new trophy, the fastest "Mr & Mrs". Ben Rhodes get the fastest time for the third year running.




30th October 2016 - The 17th Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 31 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times. Ben Rhodes set a new course record of 16:51.



25th October 2015 - The 16th Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 33 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times. I set off at 1:45 and walk round with Holly in the carrier, we take 45 minutes. Ben Rhodes get the fastest time of 17:21.




26th October 2014 - The 15th Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 26 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times. Stay till 7pm at the Windmill in order to recover.




27th October 2013 - The 14th Annual Windmill Dash. Times with positions in brackets. There were 27 runners in today's race.Table of Windmill Dash Times

Robert has brought a LED clock to display the times, however this causes his keys to get locked in his car, delaying the race start. Rain and windy during the start. The finish on the jitty is filmed for the first time. I record my best time of 26:57.

31st October 2010 - The 11th Annual Windmill Dash and first over the new course. Times with positions in brackets. The handicap race was won by Me !, again ! The fastest time of the day, 18:51 was recorded by John Robertson. There were 33 runners in today's race. In a three minute period there were 23 finishers ! Table of Windmill Dash Times

The handicap race was won by Me !, the first person to win the event twice, and only person to take part in every event. The fastest time of the day, 31:14 was recorded by Dave Sheppard-Jones. 8th April 2007 - Take part in the Livingston Relay race at Loughborough University with Simon Grundy, Pete Kirkland and Brian Booth, Annette takes the pictures. Three mile relay race with a top class field. We all get rather worried when people complete the first leg in a shade over 15 minutes.

17th September 2006 - Derby Triathlon Start time is 10:37:30. David starts 4 minutes behind me. I swim breaststroke all the way. Go very well on the bike, DT does not pass me till after 6 miles. I am very tired during the run and struggle towards the end. Have a couple in the Spread Eagle and a Sunday lunch. Give David a lift back to Rolleston, go along Marston lane.

Get to the Windmill for 2pm, I am off just after Sailor Simon, I follow him all the way round, over take just before the bottom of the jitty. I finish behind Rachael, I do not realise that I have won until Robert points out that she does not qualify. 16 runners. 22nd May 2005 - I do my first outdoor swim, 1K at Colwick Park in a time of 0:25:26, breast stroke. David does the 4K senior race.


31st October 2004 - The 5th Annual Windmill Dash, I am quite pleased to just run all the way round. Simon Flear wins. 11 runners. Have a couple of pints and a bite to eat in there.


12th September 2004 - David is devastated to be beaten by the Brian's jumper relay team. I am amazed that my Uncle John starts the event in the next lane to me, racing for Mayfield Carpets.

The Windmill26th Oct 2003 - The 4th Annual Windmill Dash, I run until the village and then walk. My worst performance so far. Good food in the Windmill. Stay in the pub till about 8pm. Annette goes down town with Robert and Doll.


6th July 2003 - Set off early to Burton with the Taylor’s for the Crown School 10k. I run round with Annette, we do it in 57:55. Robert does it in 42 and David in 48. Have a couple of pints by the canal in Burton after the event, probably the Mill House. Get the bus back into town and meet in Santander with David, Sue, Brian and Robert. Have a few drinks and then go to Pizza Express


18th May 2003 - Do the Derby 10k with a team from Wilson's Chemists. Annette and I finish in 59:42


27th October 2002 - The 3rd Annual Windmill Dash. I have a good race. Steve Disney, Sailor Simon and Brian set off in front of me. Pass Brian by Rollerworld. Chase Simon all the way along the old Alfreton road, pass him at the bottom of the jitty. Wayne and Boz are on my heels at the bottom of the jitty, fight to hold them of all the way up. Feel incredibly short of breath at the top. Finish second, very pleased with my performance. There are 9 runners this year. Anna comes along to watch. Have some food in the Windmill and a few drinks. 15th September 2002 - Derby triathlon, Brian has a bad back, so just me and David entry in team ‘Caesar Salad’ I enjoy the event very much. Andrea and Brian come along to support. Have a couple of pints in the Hawk and Buckle afterwards. Brian picks me up and we head into town. Me, Brian and David go for a Pizza Express, Sloppy Giuseppe and pepperoni and a bottle of red wine. Have one out the back in Walkabout, Blue Dog, Crown and Cushion for a lot and singing, Pappas Pizza. The lads go home and me, Doll and Anna go to Heroes, Flares and then taxi home. About 12 pints apparently.

Sunday 4th Nov 2001 - We do the Dovedale Dash, Robert picks up me and Brian. Wayne and Sharon follow us. Good weather. Start at 11am, we all go through the river. Rob’s shoe comes off at the start. I run round with Wayne mainly. Brian finishes in 44 minutes, Robert in 46, me in 47, Wayne in 48. Have a few in the Dog and Partridge, have a meal there, I drive back. Go straight to the Windmill, Tracy and Jo are there. Have a few more there. Go into town at about 8pm. David meets us in Scream. Jo and I play on the shooting machine. Move on to Fat Cats and then Buck in the Park. End up in the Shing-do with Bro, Doll and Brian. Home for midnight.


28th October 2001 - The 2nd Annual Windmill Dash. I am camping at Drum Hill with the Scouts for the weekend. I get down to the Windmill for 11am. I set off at a good pace and keep to it, followed closely by Wayne. We are almost caught at Breadsall island by Robert. I pull ahead but he catches me by the shop. I struggle to run up the jitty. I finish second in 34 minutes. Lee Mansfield comes to watch. There are 9 runners this year. I have a couple of pints and some food in the Windmill. Pick up three cooked chickens from Morrisons and rush back to Drum Hill.


Me, Rob and DT entered our first Triathlon event on 16th Sept 2001. Robert was elated to beat his brother. It was organised by Punishing Events. There is some debate afterwards about my navigation on the cycle route.

5th November 2000 - The First Windmill Dash. The Dovedale Dash is cancelled so we have our own race. Start at about 11am, the route is down to the Coach and Horses, along to Pektron, through the village and then up the jitty. I have a very steady run, finish in 36 minutes. Robert just beats David, they both take about 32 minutes. There are 7 runners. Have a few in the Windmill and then into town. Go for a meal at the Shing-do. Bro walks out after one of his spring rolls goes missing, returns after 5 minutes for his jacket.


8th May 1994 - Complete the Prime Homes Derby Half Marathon. Run with Simon Wellings and Brian Booth most of the way. Party at the Taylor's later.

26th September 1993 - Complete the Robin Hood Half Marathon in 1:54:13.


23rd May 1993 - Complete the Prime Homes Derby Half Marathon in 1:54:35 I had been very confident of beating last year time, but go too fast and end up walking through Derby. Party at the Taylor's later.


10th May 1992 - Complete the Derby Ramathon in 1:49:02. I have more to give and am confident that I can beat 1:45 next time. However this ends up being my fastest time. 1700 people take part. Party at the Taylor's later.
